Apprentice star and former alumni returns to Worthing College

21 March 2025

Melica Moshiri, a former Worthing College student and series 19 contestant on BBC show The Apprentice, recently returned to talk about her time at the college and her experience on the show.

Melica studied A-level law, business, and economics at Worthing College between 2008 and 2010. Reflecting on her experience, she said:

“I studied law at Worthing College, and I decided to take that further on and studied that at university. If I didn’t come to Worthing College, and didn’t study that, I wouldn’t have got a 2:1 at university, I wouldn’t have started my recruitment business, or been on The Apprentice.

“I have also made some great friends from this college. I am still friends with them to this day, and I wouldn’t have met them if I came to this college.”

She also had a look round the college, which has moved campuses since she attended, saying:

“This building is so much better, there’s way more facilities – there’s a gym here now, we didn’t have one at the old college. There are bigger classrooms, a better canteen, it’s really good.”

Melica was fired in episode eight of the BBC series, in an episode which had tasked contestants creating a new hot sauce brand to pitch to industry experts. She discussed her time on The Apprentice, describing the experience as intense but rewarding:

“It was a really good experience, definitely tiring because you’re out from like 4am until 9pm, but we went some amazingly cool places that I would never have done if I wasn’t on the show.

“I have never been in a room with such competitive people in my life. They are all incredibly talented and I am so grateful for that experience.”

Helena Thomas, Principal of Worthing and Northbrook College, added:

“Alumna like Melica show exactly what is possible to our current students. Her journey from Worthing College to university, running her own business, and then competing on The Apprentice is an inspiration to us all.

“It’s fantastic to hear about her success and to welcome her back for the day. We are incredibly proud of her achievements and look forward to seeing what she does next after finishing on The Apprentice.”
